Uttarkashi III
Slow lazy day. Obvious by the type of pictures I have taken !!!
Went into town after breakfast to the Vishwanath temple. This is on the banks of the Ganges.
Not more than a handful of people. so went in.
Had to walk past the Hanuman temple. So stopped and said my prayers there first. There was a Durga Pandal set up near there.
Walked on to the Viswanath temple. The absence of people milling around was loud. Helped me find my peace.
Crossed over to the Shakti Temple. Seriously felt the strength of the space. Spent some time.
Extremely happy I came here.
Given that I had not gone in to Kedarnath and I had turned back from Badrinath, the fact that I made the effort on a otherwise aimless day to drive in to Uttarkashi, and the fact that the serenity of the place invited me in, gave me a certain amount of satisfaction. It is the unplanned that does it.
Got back and washed the car. Wasn't doing a great job. So, the guys here - the cook and the gardner - piled in. Well, still not a great wash, but then, can see the colour of the vehicle. And, the windscreen is clean.
Clear skies. Believe winter is setting. All these places close down with Deepavali.
Tomorrow I drive up to Gangotri. Will be a relaxed start. Not too long a drive. But it is a climb all the way. And, cold up there !!!
