North and West towards Aalo

Departure was at 0515. Against the planned 0500.

But, have to give it to Divya that she was up and ready, without complaining too much.

Only issue with the departure was we could not have a bath. No hot water.

I had received a mail from friend the previous evening. As the internet was a mess, saw it this morning when I was waiting for Divya to get organised. There was Lunar Eclipse on. So went out and looked west. Took shots of what I saw in that direction.

The route out of Roing towards Aalo was over the River Lohit. The view was just awesome. The hills in front, the sun rising behind us. Had to stop for a photo shoot.

Well, kept stopping and taking shots all along the way.

Maps went mad some time before we reached Pasighat. It had a portion of the road completely missing. We were following a biker, so ignored maps. Which went berserk, asking us to make a u-turn constantly, till we got back to where maps had a road on. The map showed us floating in the air.

Just past Pasighat, we stopped at a wayside hut for breakfast. That consisted of a Omelette  and Maggie. Divya was rolling as I struggled over the chopped chillies. As we were eating got a call from Aalo that there was a road closure at Rottung, between 1000 hours and 1400 hours. We had to get thru to that point by 1000. Well, due to my standard time of early departure, we were well in time.

Got to the road closure point around 0820. Crossed it by 0940. The road was being built. They had cut a path over the mountains for traffic to keep flowing.

We thought this was a bad stretch. Little did we know that once we got back to the NH13, we would be reduced to a crawl. The road was under construction. What more can be said. Every chance we got to stop by the side and take pictures, we did. The entire drive was along the river Siang, which we had crossed just before Pasighat.

Got to Aalo for lunch. This is a place called Reyi Homestay, located on an Orange orchard, overlooking the river and a range of hills. Beautiful location.

Good rooms. Had a geyser that worked.  Had requested a vegetarian lunch. As that was getting laid out, we spoke about dinner. Our request confused the hell out of them, as they had taken us to be vegetarians. So, as we started lunch, we got offered Mithun. Excellent stuff.

As soon as lunch was done we headed out to see a bridge I had read about. Maps did not have it located. Got manual directions and headed out. Definitely worth the trip out.

Have asked for an early dinner.
